Why this stop matters

Fort Wayne was an important Pennsylvania Railroad division point — the city's name lives on in 'Fort Wayne Line' track designations the New York-to-Chicago freight corridor still uses. PRR's 'Pennsy' operated in the same era as the Big Boys, with a similarly large steam fleet that handled the heavy grades of the Allegheny crossing.
