Why this stop matters

Bellevue grew up around the Mad River & Lake Erie Railroad, one of the earliest carriers in Ohio (1830s). Its yard, eventually absorbed into Norfolk Southern's predecessor lines, remains a working classification facility and a reminder that Ohio sat between the coal of Appalachia and the lake ports of Cleveland — heavy steam territory.
