King of Prussia, PA

Why this stop matters

King of Prussia takes its name from a colonial-era tavern, and for most of its life it was farm country rather than a railroad town. Its rail story is a working one: the branch lines that once threaded Upper Merion, and above all Abrams Yard, the classification yard the Reading Railroad built here and that Norfolk Southern still runs. The Chester Valley line that ran west from the yard was lifted in 2010 and is now a rail trail.
